At ELFA International, we have not only played a crucial role in advancing education and livelihood, our primary focus areas, but we have also made significant contributions in improving health and medical infrastructure across the Union Territory (UT) on multiple occasions. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we were among the first organizations in Jammu and Kashmir to respond swiftly to the crisis.
Since the onset of the lockdown due to the Coronavirus outbreak, ELFA International was proactive in its emergency response efforts. We mobilized local tailors, particularly women, to produce 50,000 triple-layered washable facemasks and 29,000 sets of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Additionally, we distributed 78,000 units of hand sanitizers, hand gloves, and sanitary napkins. Our efforts were recognized and commended by local authorities, including formal letters of appreciation and tweets from the District Development Commissioner and Mayor of Srinagar City.
Moreover, we have been actively supporting logistics and healthcare systems for relevant departments. Recently, we equipped Sub-District Hospital Trehgam, Kupwara, Quoilmuqam Bnadipora and Primary Health Centre Kaechwari-Khansahib, Budgam, with advanced Life Support ambulances, catering to the remote areas of these districts with state-of-the-art facilities.
ELFA International regularly organizes health camps across the UT to ensure access to medical care for people from various geographical and economic backgrounds.
