COVID 19: ELFA Int’l distributes 27000 masks, PPEs among health workers

ASrinagar-based Non-governmental Organization `ELFA International’ has distributed 27000 units of hand sanitizers, facemasks, PPEs, and hand gloves among the frontline health workers for protection against COVID 19. “Our primary focus is on education, youth, and women empowerment. After the coronavirus outbreak, we shifted gears and launched an emergency response,” Mehran Khan, Chief Executive (CEO) of ELFA International, told The Kashmir Monitor.

Srinagar: ELFA International, a premier NGO in J&K has been working in close coordination with Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Department of Health and District Administrations, organization distributed/donated emergency supplies like, Hand Sanitizers, Face Masks, PPE, Hand Gloves and Sanitary pads to different Emergency/Health and Quarantine Facilities in district Srinagar, Baramulla, Pulwama, Budgam and Kuwara, besides distributing ration packs among needy people.

Ever since the coronavirus outbreak, there has been a severe shortage of masks and PPEs across the country. While Khan was in touch with various vendors outside J&K, no one could deliver the supplies. Faced with the dilemma, Khan was quick to find a solution. ``I went the innovative way and immediately employed local tailors to stitch some masks. I showed some samples to doctors and health officials and got it approved. Then I got these made in bulk.
